Thank you so much for taking the time to look at our profile. We are eager to begin our parenting journey – to watch a child grow and provide all the love and support that we can.

Our parenting philosophy is simple. We hope for this child to be (1) a good, kind person and (2) happy in whatever he or she decides to be. We want to help this child grow into his or her own best self – and be happy and kind along the way.

Cormac was the sort of child who always was reading a book in class, thinking naively that his teacher was unaware! To this day, Cormac is an avid reader. Some people’s “happy place” might be a private island paradise – Cormac’s happy place is a bookstore. We can’t wait to see Cormac help give this child a love of reading and learning. This child’s bookshelf will be hand-picked by an expert!

Both of us are the baby in our families, with two older siblings each. We have a total of nine nieces and nephews, ranging in age from 1 to 10. We make it a point to see them as often as we could! Some of our best memories include spending a day in the Baltimore inner harbor with two of our nephews, spending the Fourth of July with our nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles at a lake in small-town Illinois, and receiving constant video and photo updates from our nephews in New York City!

We live in a rowhouse in Washington, DC, which was renovated in 2013. We chose this house with a future child in mind. It has a basement level that is perfect for a play space and a large bedroom perfect for a child, right next to ours. And it has a quiet, nice backyard perfect for a child to run off steam!

I like to say that Lucas is a “simple soul.” He enjoys the simple pleasures in life: a walk around the neighborhood, a quiet night watching TV or a movie, or a home-cooked meal. He is patient, easy-going, and always chooses to see the best in others, myself included. He is diligent at his work as an economist for the federal government – which is his dream job!

Cormac is, by far, the smartest person I have ever met. He can make connections between ideas that I can barely grasp. Cormac applied this brilliance to his studies when he came to the U.S. for college from Ireland, and also of course in his professional life as an attorney for the federal government. But the place I see his wisdom displayed, even more, is in his interactions with our friends. He is able to have such deep, profound conversations about the world.
